| John Surtees and Enzo Ferrari |
The prancing horse logo, the distinctive red paint jobs and the guttural roar of the engine. Ferrari is the epitome of speed, style, and superiority.
Based in Maranello, Italy, this iconic company have been producing pulse-quickening motorcars for over 50 years. Enzo Ferrari, the founding father of the world's most famous sports car marque was born in 1898. His career began as a racing driver with Alfa Romeo in 1919, before moving into the Alfa workshops for the next two decades to concentrate on design and engineering.
In 1947, Ferrari's first car, the 125 S, lined up on the starting grid and clinched victory within a month of its debut. These V12 beasts secured a ferocious racing reputation with a string of championship wins before developing the 166 Sport production car a year later.
During the 1950s, the marque continued to impress on the circuit and was beginning to inspire gasps in the showrooms. By the 1960s, the body styling skills of Battista 'Pinin' Farina, and mid-engine models like the Dino meant that Ferrari's iconic status was established.
With eye-popping looks that could kill at a hundred paces and thoroughbred performance, Ferrari is still the only car for those who take their speed seriously.
